MAAP Projects
Online Residencies
Net.works/
- Lim Tzay Chuen - Singapore
- Christian Thompson - Melbourne
- Xing Danwen - Beijing
The first net.works/MAAP online residency supported YOUNG-HAE CHANG HEAVY INDUSTRIES in first training for the web with Feng Mengbo, Ric Vermey and Tina Gonzales in 1999.
In 2004, we purposely chose to focus on artists that have little or no experience with producing works for an online environment. The artists applied their conceptual strengths to the opportunity to explore possibilities of online art. Christian and Danwen travel to Singapore to meet with Tzay Chuen and MAAP IT manager Jeff Sams to explore possibilities over the period of the festival focus week and then continue with online support for an extended period.
The project is an open platform to offer personalized training and technical support to realize new explorations in media for the artists.
The program is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and in Singapore we wish to thank The University Scholars Programme, Cyberarts/Cyberculture Initiative, National University Singapore for access to their lab and facilities and also the generous help and advice of Irina Aristarkhova.
